City Moves Ahead on Main Street Waterline to Prepare for Paving

Anderson City Council sent forward to the planning commission a proposal to rezone 307 Concord Road from R-15, Single-Family Residential to Neighborhood Commercial. The request was to allow the property to be used initially for food trucks and trailers. The city’s current policy requires food trucks be located on private properties zoned for restaurant uses. The Neighborhood Commercial classification is the least intensive zoning classification that allows restaurants and would allow flexibility on the site.
On Monday night, council also:
Tabled a request consideration to rezone 10 acres located at 110 Fairway Green from RM-10, Multi-Family Residential to PDD, Planned Development District.
Approved the purchase of five new Police Dodge Chargers at a total cost of $175,830, as part of Monday night’s meeting at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
Approved $125,000 for engineering services for the design, specifications, bidding and construction services for the waterline running along Main Street from Tribble Street to Reed Street, to meet new Environmental Protection Agency Lead and Copper Rules with require the removal any lines that have lead joints or pipes that have lead solder over the next few years. With Main Street slated to be paved before the end of 2025, the city wanted to replace this line before the project begins.
Approved a resolution authorizing the city to reimburse certain expenditures made prior to the issuance of the Equipment Capital Lease purchase not exceeding $2,710,000.
