Clemson Professor Helps Keep S.C. History Alive
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
When it comes to South Carolina History, one might not look to the State Entomologist for information.
But few speakers on the state’s past are in more demand than Dr. Tim Drake, the State Program Manager for the Department of Pesticide Regulation, and Assistant Director of Regulatory Programs at Clemson University.
A self-described “social historian,” Drake has a passion for Southern history, preservation, traditions and superstitions, and family genealogy.
He is an active member of a number of Upstate historical groups, including serving as: President, Belton Area Museum Association; Secretary, Pendleton Historic Foundation Board; A member of the Anderson County Museum Advisory Committee; and the Clemson University Heritage Advisory Committee.
Drake discusses the history of the region and how those roots are still quite visible today in the area’s customs, religion and traditions, and even insects, in this interview with the Anderson Observer.
