Piedmont Historical Preservation Society to Celebrate New Research Capabilities Sunday

Observer Reports

The Piedmont Historical Preservation Society will mark a major expansion of their research capabilities Sunday at 2 p.m., featuring displays of the new work and on-going projects.

The group has been working in collaboration with the University of South Carolina Upstate to catalog a number of new historical collections which will now be available at the Piedmont location.

Sunday’s event will begin with a program in the main room in Piedmont, which will highlight the work.

The new materials includes World War I-era letters from the Margaret Payne Collection, which was completed as part of a student service learning project at USC-Upstate, as well as collections from other donated materials.

The group will also update progress on the historic YMCA building in Piedmont, and continued fundraising efforts.
