Council Approves Bid on Piedmont Riverfront Park

Anderson County Council approved a $779,000 bid for the Piedmont Riverfront Park Project on Tuesday night. The picturesque Piedmont Riverfront Park will be the fifth access facility developed by the county to support the Upper Saluda River Blue Trail. Completion of the project on the 28 unspoiled acres is expected to take up to five years.
As snow fell outside, council also named committee members for the year, as part of the the meeting held at the Anderson County Museum:
Finance: Brett Sanders, chairman, Cindy Wilson and Chris Sullivan
Administrative Policy and Personnel: Jimmy Davis, chairman, Tommy Dunn and Glenn Davis
Public Safety: Greg Elgin, chairman, Glenn Davis, and Brett Sanders
Recycling and Solid Waste: Glenn Davis, chairman, Chris Sullivan, and Greg Elgin
Planning and Public Works: Cindy Wilson, chairman, Jimmy Davis, and Chris Sullivan
Business and Restoration Ad Hoc Committee: Jimmy Davis, Chris Sullivan, Sheriff Chad McBride and Auditor John Benca
Also on Tuesday night council approved bids for the demolition of 24 structures. Plans are for the property to be deeded to three local non-profits, Hope Missions of the Upstate, Habitat for Humanity and the Homeless Alliance to be used to provide affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods.
