Dist. 5 Makes it Official: Southwood Now Home to The Chadwick Boseman Center for the Performing Arts

Anderson School Dist. 5 board of trustees made official on Tuesday night the renaming of the Southwood Academy of the Arts Center after Anderson native Chadwick Boseman. The board unanimously voted to waive a policy restricting the naming buildings in the district.

“He was a hard-working young man,” said Carolyn Boseman, Chadwick’s mother at Tuesday’s board meeting. She told the board her son stayed busy with school work, church, choir and “trying to help others.”
