Council Oks $2.5M for Paving, $1.25 Bond for Homeland Park Water/Sewer

Anderson County Council approved a contract on Tuesday for King Asphalt, Inc., to take care of a number of road paving projects, mainly in the Williamston area. The $2.5 million contract will be paid for with C-Funds, money collected as the county’s part of the state gasoline tax, for road paving.
Council also gave final approval for up to $1.25 million bond for the Homeland Park Water District for water and sewer upgrades and repairs, and to extending the lease on the Tower Street building to Hope Missions of the Upstate, which provides the county’s warming and cooling shelter during inclement weather, offers services to those who are struggling in the community with food, job placement, housing and other needs.
And council approved tax incentives to allow for a $56 million expansion of a local business, which promises 51 new jobs with average wages of $31.50 per hour.
