Eastern Engineered Wood to Bring 31 Jobs to Belton

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

Eastern Engineered Wood Products announced today plans to bring 31 new jobs and a $18.7 million investment to Belton for a new regional distribution center.

A wholesale distributor of engineered wood products, the new distribution center, to be located at 110 Milliken Drive in Belton, will service lumber dealers and component manufacturers in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

“I was thrilled to learn that Eastern Engineered Wood Products chose Belton for their new location,” said Belton Mayor Eleanor Dorn. “This caliber of company promises to bring significant growth to our economy, as well as new job opportunities for many in our community. We are excited to witness the positive impact that this will bring to Belton.”

Dorn also thanked S.C. Gov. McMaster, the S.C. Dept of Commerce, Anderson County Economic Development, and Anderson County for all their efforts in bringing Eastern to Belton.

Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns said he hopes the new endeavor is the first of many for the Belton area.

“We are delighted to have this new economic development opportunity for the City of Belton,” said Burns. “We hope this is the first of many more in the near future.”

Engineered wood products (EWPs) are materials made by combining wood with adhesives or resins. They're also known as manufactured board, composite wood, or man-made wood.

“This is a good thing for the Belton area and for Anderson County,” said Anderson County Councilman Greg Elgin, who represents Dist. 3 where the facility is located near the railroad tracks of the old Peerless Plant at 110 Milliken Drive in Belton.

Following the plant's closure, the site remained largely undeveloped until June of 2024, when the 10.5-acre parcel was sold for $1.3 million.

The property is near the old Hydro Aluminum Sapa plant at 117 Blake Dairy Road which closed in 2019 after 47 years of operation in Belton.

“This is a much-needed addition to this community, to the City of Belton and to Anderson County,” said Elgin. “It’s a great investment bringing more jobs and more capital investment in our county.”

In a news release, Eastern Engineered Wood Products President Todd Linsey wrote:

“Establishing this new location in Anderson County, South Carolina is an exciting next step in our growth and expansion strategy. We have long recognized the need for our products and services in the Southeast, and the Upstate of South Carolina is the ideal area from which to support that need. Support from the state and local authorities has been tremendous, and we look forward to working together as we grow our operation.”

Founded in Pennsylvania in 1998, Eastern supplies engineered wood products to building materials dealers and lumber yards across the East Coast. The company also provides technical support to customers including product placement drawings, product specification assistance and sales education.

The facility is slated to start later this year and is expected to be up and running in early 2026. Job opportunities here.
