Family of Promise Box City Sheds Light on Homelessness
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
With homelessness on the rise in Anderson County (and elsewhere), especially among families, local residents build a cardboard box city Friday in the Christmas Village of Lights of Hope to raise awareness and funds.
Family Promise of Anderson, working with the Anderson University School of Nursing, asked students to scavenge for cardboard to tape together temporary structures they slept in overnight to get a feel for what it’s like for those who do this on a regular basis.
Homeless for the Homeless provides also simulates some of the challenges faced with poverty simulations highlighting the challenges.
All funds raised will be used by Family Promise to help families who are without homes. To donate or for more information, visit familypromiseanderson.org.
