Four Years after Start, Cleo Bailey Experiment Blooming
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Four years after the launch of The Cleo Bailey Experiment, which debuted just as the pandemic hit, Zephaniah and Whitney Smith have watched their vision begin to bloom.
The old elementary school on Anderson’s East Side, is already helping fill neighbor’s grocery bags with fresh produce, but it is beginning to feed the community’s soul as well. The garden has not only been a source of produce in a food desert, it has provided education opportunities as well.
This year that program should grow even larger, with the addition of a greenhouse in the school courtyard, allowing for the process to go on in every season.
Zephaniah talked about the progress and about what's next in this interview with the Anderson Observer.
