Junior Bassmaster Kicks Off Saturday at Green Pond

Observer Reports

The road to the 2024 Bassmaster Junior and High School National Championship begins Saturday at Green Pond Landing and Event Center as the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation Youth Series gather for the opening event of the season.

In youth fishing, each boat contains two anglers and an adult designated at the Boat Captain.

Tony Gray, Tournament Director, and S.C. B.A.S.S. Nation Youth Director, brings his tournament trail to Green Pond Landing for the third consecutive year. Gray anticipates the opening trail event at Lake Hartwell will draw 140 to 150 boats.

The one-day event will launch at 7 a.m., with the Junior Division weigh-in at 2 p.m. The High School Division will weigh in at 3 p.m. All events are open and free to the public.

“We’re excited to have the youth of the South Carolina B.A.S.S. Nation fishing in our facility, on our lake, and in our community this weekend,” said Neil Paul, Executive Director at Visit Anderson. “The youth angler is the future of our sport, our future consumer, a future visitor or even a future resident of our Anderson County. We’re excited about the opportunity to host them and show off the many great assets in our community.”
