Rusty Burns: Roadwork, Concerts Highlight Summer
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
It’s a busy July in Anderson County as the new budget year begins.
Roadwork, concerts, funding for in projects in parks and preparations for the largest music event in the county’s history are only part of the activity, according to Administrator Rusty Burns.
Work is underway countywide on parks and other recreation/tourism activities, and both the City of Anderson and Anderson Sheriff’s Office are all-hands-on-deck for the upcoming “Rock the Country” music festival set for July 26-27 at the civic center amphitheater.
The two-day festival will include such artists as Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Brantley Gilbert, Travis Tritt, Big & Rich Ft. Gretchen Wilson and others, and Burns said the event is expected to have an economic impact of at least $19.1 million on Anderson County.
Celebrate Anderson follows Labor Day weekend with two more concerts.
Burns also offered updates on mill revitalizations, sewer upgrades, and a new grant to help Hope Missions of the Upstate’s Housing Navigator find permanent housing for those in need, in this interview with the Anderson Observer.
