Palmetto Hires Powdersville OC as Head Football Coach

Palmetto High School has a new head football coach, and his commute won’t change drastically.

Ryan Norton, who most recently served at Powdersville High School as offensive coordinator at Powdersville High School, will take over the program at Palmetto as soon as the move is officially approved by the Anderson School Dist. 1 School Board.

Norton led an explosive Patriot offense that averaged 44 points-per-game this past season, and the team finished runner-up in the South Carolina state championship. Norton’s record as Offensive Coordinator at Powdersville was 30 wins and 7 losses. In addition to his football duties, Norton has served as head Track and Field Coach and Assistant Athletic Director.

Norton is a native of upstate South Carolina and graduated from Mauldin High School and was a scholarship athlete on the Clemson Tiger Football tTeam where he started on the offensive line for two seasons. Norton coached for a year at Byrnes High School before accepting a position as a Special Education Teacher and Varsity Football Assistant at Powdersville High School. Norton has coached for six years at Powdersville.

“I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity that Mr. Binnicker, Mr. Roach, and the Anderson School District One Board have given me in becoming the next head football coach at Palmetto High School,” said Norton. “My family and I cannot wait to become involved and committed members of a strong Palmetto community. Go Mustangs!“
