Pendleton to Kick Off West Queen Street Project Monday

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

The Town of Pendleton is scheduled to begin their West Queen Street expansion project on Monday. The expansion project will include 3,825 linear feet of new sidewalks (both sides of the street), additional street lights, approximately 30 new on-street parking spaces, improved streetscape work, and stormwater improvements.

The project is made possible by a $500,000 Community Block Development Grant and a $500,000 ARC grant.

The sidewalks will be added and the current sidewalks repaired from the end of the West Queen St. Project down Winston and to Keese Streets.  Secutiy lighting and security cameras will also be installed in some locations.

The improvements are among the goals of Pendleton Councilwoman Sandra Gantt to improve the northern portion of the Town of Pendleton.

“We started this years ago by purchasing the property in the middle of Queen St. for $100,000 and demolishing those houses,” said Mayor Frank Crenshaw. “We are excited about the project. It will really improve the infrastructure there.”
