Prisma Health Planning Expansion in Anderson
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Prisma Health, which already operates three medical office complexes in Anderson is planning to expand with two more locations.
Repeated requests by the Anderson Observer for comments/clarification of the new facilities were ignored by Prisma.
Hiring is already under way for a new Urgent Care Center at 3322 North Main St., and modifications were recently approved for sewer infrastructure for an unidentified medical facility at 4532 Liberty Highway across from Prisma’s current Blue Ridge Orthopedics and Blue Ridge Hand Center on Justice Lane.
The Liberty Highway location features a 9,468 sq ft building (more than 5,000 sq ft with HVAC) and sits on 3.2-acre lot.
Current Prisma locations in Anderson include: Prisma Health Pediatric Urgent Care and Prisma Health Maternal-Fetal Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology at 2000 East Greenville Street, and Doctors Care Anderson at 2126 S.C. 81 North.
Prisma’s expansion plans in Anderson come on the heels of the May repeal of the South Carolina Certificate of Need law, which was recently repealed and signed by S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster on Monday.
The state Senate passed the bill earlier this year and the House of Representatives approved an amended version in May. The Senate approved those changes. Supporters of the new bill say this will bring access to healthcare in rural parts of the state while also reducing costs by opening up South Carolina to more competition.
