Record Heat, Crowds Mark Spring Water Festival

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

The 42nd Annual Spring Water Festival will be remembered as one which drew some of the largest crowds despite record-breaking temperatures.

The near 100-degree heat did little to deter the thousands who attended Saturday’s festival in Mineral Springs Park, which featured music, food, kids rides/activities, local vendors and the return of a lost tradition.

Mayor Rockey Burgess served up cool water from the renowned spring, the source of the town’s founding and fame.
