A new restaurant opening in downtown Anderson this week offers a new way to see the city.

Up on the Roof, which occupies the space on top of the downtown parking garage at the corner of South McDuffie and East Market streets, is set to open Wednesday.

The restaurant is scheduled to be open seven nights a week for dinner, lunch on Thursday and Friday, and Saturday and Sunday brunch. It will also be available for events.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer a new concept to Anderson in that space,” said General Manager Macy Taylor, a graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School.

Anderson City Council approved the restaurant for the top of the garage last year. The 6,148-square-foot rooftop (1,434 square-feet conditioned space, and 4,714 square feet of open-air space) is expected to create 60 new jobs and generate $250,000 in its first five years of operation from annual hospitality tax and business license fees.
