Southwood Chosen "Palmetto's Finest" School

Anderson School Dist. 5’s Southwood Academy has been selected as a “Palmetto’s Finest” school. Southwood is one of five in South Carolina chosen for the recognition.

The award is given annually by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators to recognize top schools in the state which offer “excellent instruction and outstanding leaders, augmented by strong family and community involvement and a supportive business community.”

Two elementary, two secondary and one “special school” are chosen each year for the award. As a school for the arts, Southwood was recognized as in the latter category.

The selection process includes a comprehensive review of a school's programs, focusing on the key question: "What impact is this school making on the lives of students and the community, and is it deserving of the Palmetto's Finest Award?" For more information, visit SCASA Palmetto Finest.
