Williamston Winter Wonderland Delights Big Crowd
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Even the Grinch that stole the first try at tree-lighting countdown could not dampen spirits in Williamston Sunday night, as more than 1,500 holiday revelers packed the area in front of town hall as part of the 22 annual Winter Wonderland celebration.
The tree and town hall behind it eventually were alight with Christmas cheer, as Santa visited the crowd while snow fell from the wintery machine setting the tone for the season. The Palmetto Elementary School Choir brought music as the town honored its first citizen of the year as part of the festivities.
Dianne Chastain Lollis was not only honored for her work this year but was also given the key to the town by Mayor Rockey Burgess, marking her years of work on behalf of the community.
Town hall’s annual hall of trees was also on display, and the Mineral Spring Park’s annual Christmas lights display was also debuted Sunday night.
