Broadway Lake Family Day Enjoys Record Crowds
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
An expanded Broadway Lake Family Day drew record crowds on Saturday, for the annual community cardboard boat races, games, children’s activities, a professional water ski team exhibition, food and more.
This year’s event was held a little earlier, due to conflicting schedule of the ski team and the earlier start to school in South Carolina this year.
The highlight of the event, a race by local charities in cardboard boats of their own creation, resulted in a win for the Sertoma Club of Anderson. The prize for best decorated boat was given to the Anderson Free Clinic for their festival of trees Christmas in July creation.
Long-time supporters of the Broadway Lake community Roy and Peg Ivey provided funding for the participants of this race, making sure each group received at least $1,000.
