City Approves Sewer Project, Fire Station Paving Project

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

Anderson City Council approved the $5.2 million contract for the Cox Creek Phase I sewer line replacement on Monday, clearing the way for the amended project..

Paid for largely by funding from the American Rescue Plan Act and the South Carolina Rural Initiative Authority , the city will provide for approximately 4,300 feet of 30” diameter pipe running from the Rocky River Conservatory and northward. The original plan called for an additional 3,000 feet of 24” diameter pipe, but increases in pricing put this part of the project on hold.

The improvements are needed due to growth in the area and issues with runoff which have resulted in flooding in some neighborhoods.

Moorhead Construction of Belton was the winning bidder for the work.

Also on Monday night, city council approved $346,000 for construction contract with Foothills Contracting Services to replace the Anderson City Fire Station 1 driveway pad.
