InspireAbilities of Anderson County Planting for Future
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
InspireAbilities of Anderson County (formerly the Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board), is planting a new project aimed at helping our friends, family and neighbors with intellectual disabilities, related disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and head and or spinal cord injuries.
Anderson County helped make available six acres near the civic center for a covered pavilion and greenhouses to provide employment opportunities. Those involved will plant, tend and harvest fruit and vegetables and sell the produce at the pavilion.
“This is one of the most exciting projects Anderson County has going on,” said InspirAblities Board Member Chris Sullivan. “It’s something creative, something nobody else has going on, and something we have the right people in place to make this happen.”
If all goes as planned, the project will be completed by the end of 2024 and begin selling produce in the Spring of 2025.
