S.C. to Require Installation of Breathalyzers for Those with DUIs
Under the new law, anyone convicted of driving under the influence will have to breathe into a device that confirms no measurable alcohol levels exist before they can operate their vehicle. The requirement could last up to six months and is effective now for offenders registering a .08 blood alcohol content or higher, instead of the previous .15 limits.
School Dist. 4 Plan Aimed at Meeting Demands of Growth
With more than 1,000 housing units either planned or under construction in the district, the student population is projected to swell by at least 800 in the decade ahead.
Soup Kitchen to Purchase Roy's Diner Building
The Anderson Emergency Soup Kitchen will soon have a new home in the former Roy’s Diner building at 1527 South Main. The final day of service at Roy’s is Friday. The closing on the building is scheduled for next week.
Superintendent Sets High Goals for Anderson School Dist. 3
The district has five schools: Flat Rock Elementary, Iva Elementary, Star Elementary, Starr-Iva Middle and Crescent High. The district also joins school districts 4 and 5 as part of the Anderson Institute of Technology. Parental involvement has grown to the level it is creating parking challenges at school events.
Registration Open for Anderson County's Fastest Citizens Event
Sponsored by Anderson County, the 400-yard timed runs will begin every few minutes beginning at 9 a.m., for ages five and up, with races grouped by age. Only manual wheelchairs will be allowed in the time events and a first-place medals will be awarded-the male and female winners in each category.
Clemson Bans TikTok on Campus Servers
Clemson University has joined a growing list of schools banning TikTok on campus WiFi servers. Clemson announced the move in an email to students, faculty and staff Friday, stating that no one will be able to access the app while connected to campus servers beginning Monday.

Anderson County SCDOT Projects Include Roundabouts, Interstate Exit Reconfigurations
Closer to the City of Anderson, two new roundabouts are slated within 100 yard of each other on Midway Road. One will be at a newly cut intersection for Harriet Circle south of the current site the road connects with Midway, and a second at the intersection of Midway Road and Crestview Road.

Voter Registration Deadline for Fork No. 2 Referendum July 9
Online registration at SC.Votes.org, must be completed before midnight July 9. A valid South Carolina driver’s license or S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles ID card are required for online registration. Citizens may also register in person at the Anderson County Voter Registration and Elections office in downtown Anderson.
Some S.C. Youthful Offenders Now Offered Clean Slate
A new provision would expand the South Carolina Youthful Offender Act to allow those convicted of some nonviolent misdemeanors and low-level felonies to apply for those offenses to be removed from their criminal records. Violent crimes, such as domestic violence, and convictions that require the person to be added to the state’s sex offender registry are not included in the new law.
